The Chinese goosander (Mergus squamatus) is a bird in the family Anatidae. The scientific name of the species was first validly published in 1864 by John Gould.
The bird is 52 to 58 cm long, the size of the middle goosander. The adult male has a glossy green head and neck and a large crest and otherwise light cream underneath and white flanks with a scaly pattern. The female is light reddish-brown on the head and neck and a spindly crest and otherwise whitish underneath; in her, the scale pattern is finer in texture.
