Mounted head of a Racka sheep. The head has been mounted with great attention to detail.
Wall paintings have been discovered in Egypt that are more than 6,000 years old. It is likely that our Hungarian Racka sheep are descended from a species found in ancient Egypt. The Hungarian Racka is known as a robust breed of sheep that can withstand both extreme cold and very hot climates. These remarkable animals stand out for their proud demeanor, alertness, long dreadlock-like coat and corkscrew-like horns that stand in a V-shape on their heads. The horns of ewes are about 30 cm long, while those of rams can grow up to 50 cm. There are both white and black breed varieties of the Hungarian Racka.
