Set of antique goat masks made of paper mache. In perfect condition and are displayed on a stand. Around 1920, papier-mâché goat masks became popular during winter festivals in European mountain villages. These masks, with sharp horns and expressive faces, were used in rituals such as the "Perchtenlauf" to chase away evil spirits and welcome spring. Papier-mâché offered a lightweight, affordable option and allowed for detailed, colorful designs. Today, these masks are rare and sought after as collectibles, reflecting the rich folk cultural heritage.
