Welsh Harlequin duck

Recently stuffed Welsh Harlequin Duck. This duck is stuffed to a very high standard which makes it lifelike. This breed has a fascinating genesis. Group Captain Leslie Bonnet began development in the late 1940s using khaki campbell "sports" (deviant breeds that did not meet standard standards, often used in breeding programs) that were later crossed with other breeds. Although this originally began in Herefordshire, the family moved to North Wales, resulting in the name "Welsh Harlequin. The breed quickly became popular, but like many other duck breeds, the number of Welsh Harlequin ducks declined sharply in the 1950s and 1960s. Then disaster struck when a fox attacked and ate Group Captain Bonnet's birds. These ducks were direct descendants of the original "sports," which made it seem like the breed was lost forever. Fortunately, it turned out that Eddie Grayson of Lancashire had purchased some of the original ducks in 1963, preserving the breed.
