Very large antique Anduze terracotta garden urn (late 19th century).
Due to the size, these pots are made in 2 parts. The pot comes from French orangerie so it is well preserved. Due to its origin and age, it has a fantastic patina.
The whole is in very decorative condition and has aged beautifully. The glaze is flaking off in accordance with age and weathering and there are a few small loss spots on the rim with some light damage in the rest of the piece, but nothing significant or that detracts from the whole.
The Boisset family has been producing terracotta pots in the Anduze region since it was founded in 1803 by Etienne Boisset using traditional methods and the earth from the area. Today, the company is run by Lilian Metge and her husband Richard Jusquet.
